Book with foreigner-friendly signals

Use English-friendly platforms when possible. Prefer listings with recent foreign guest reviews, clear passport check-in language, 24-hour front desk, and online payment.

  • Save the Chinese hotel name and address.
  • Book refundable rooms for late arrivals or smaller cities.
  • Screenshot the booking confirmation and cancellation policy.

Bring the original passport

Hotels need your original passport for guest registration. A photo or copy can help communication, but it usually cannot replace the document at the desk.

  • Make sure the booking name matches your passport.
  • Keep visa or entry-stamp details accessible.
  • Expect the front desk to scan or photograph passport details for registration.

Plan hotel payment and deposits

Online prepayment is usually smoother for visitors. At the hotel, be ready for a deposit, local fees, or a card terminal that does not accept your international card.

  • Keep Alipay and Weixin Pay ready even if you paid online.
  • Carry small RMB backup for deposits or local taxes.
  • Ask how and when a deposit will be refunded.

Ask support to confirm before you book

Send these details to support@chinapaymentassist.help and we can help confirm whether the hotel staff can register a foreign passport.

  • Hotel name and city
  • Check-in and check-out dates
  • Passport nationality
  • Arrival time, especially after midnight
  • Any payment or deposit concern
